Johnny Depp's yacht in Venice

Johnny Depp's yacht Vajoliroja in Venice

Hollywood heartthrob and Ho Chi Minh lookalike Johnny Depp is in Venice to shoot The Tourist with Angelina Jolie. Today, his yacht--the Vajoliroja--followed in the actor's wake. Cheryl grabbed several photos of the boat at its mooring along the Giudecca Canal and shot a brief video of crew members spiffing up the vessel.

In the video, you'll see that Vajoliroja is tied up next to a popular snack bar on the Zattere. (The yacht's mooring platform is separated from the pedestrian promenade by a short bridge with a locked gate, which should discourage rubberneckers and paparazzi from peering through any portholes.)

Tip for cruisers: Why settle for a cabin on The Love Boat when you can charter an entire vessel from the former Edward Scissorhands and Captain Jack Sparrow? According to the Web site Luxist.com, you can hire Vajoliroja (with crew) this summer for US $130,000 per week.

Faces from Angelina Jolie's film, or...?

Palazzo Mocenigo Venice Cheryl was researching an "accessible Venice" itinerary on Tuesday, April 20 when she noticed that a door on one of the balconies of the Palazzo Mocenigo was open across the Grand Canal. (The Palazzo Mocenigo is the temporary home of Angelina Jolie, who's in Venice with her family while filming The Tourist with Johnny Depp.)

Suddenly two women appeared at the open door, and Cheryl's blogger instincts took over. She snapped four photos with our trusty Panasonic Lumix ZS3 paparazzi camera, and two of them had recognizable faces--or at least their faces would be recognizable to mothers, boyfriends, and high-school classmates.

Who are these women? Friends or relatives of the Jolie-Pitt clan, nannies, or possibly a pair of actresses? Your guess is as good as ours (or possibly better), so we'll publish the photos and let you, our readers, decide whether Cheryl snapped Angelina's long-lost sisters Lorna and Lulu or if there's a more prosaic reason for the women's presence in the palazzo.

Was this woman scratching her nose, tittering shyly at one of Brad Pitt's jokes, or calling "Breaker, breaker" with a handheld CB radio?

'The Tourist' comes to Campo San Stefano

Cheryl was approaching the Campo San Stefano today when she saw film equipment being unloaded from a barge:

Grip carts were lined up outside a building near the former San Vidal church:

Two actors in tuxedos (or possibly maitre d's from the movie company's catering service) were preening next to the building entrance:

Meanwhile, Maggie--our celebrity-sniffing service dog--was surveying the campo, looking for signs of The Tourist's stars, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie:

Addendum: A local newspaper, La Nuova, has published a location map (based on a satellite photo) that may be useful if you'll be in Venice during the movie shoot and want to catch a glimpse of the goings-on.
