Cooperativa Trasbagagli Venezia

If you arrive in Venice with a tour group, as many visitors do, it's likely that the Cooperativa Trasbagagli will be responsible for hauling your luggage from the bus or train station to your hotel. The cooperative, which has been operating since 1946, also runs the baggage storage or left luggage offices at Venice's Piazzale Roma and at Venice Marco Polo Airport.

The Cooperativa's operations hub is at the Pizzale Roma, which is the last stop for buses, taxis, and other motor vehicles arriving in Venice. Cheryl took these photos of a Trasbagagli crew loading suitcases into a cargo boat:

1. A Trasbagagli worker places a suitcase on a conveyor near a passenger drop-off point for tour buses.

2. The suitcase joins other luggage on a conveyor that empties into a Trasbagagli boat. (The boat is in a small canal at the southeast corner of the Piazzale Roma.)

3. Down in the boat, another Trasbagagli employee grabs the bags as they come off the conveyor and stacks them for delivery to the tour group's hotel.
